The bicyclist struck and killed by a truck in Cambridge, MA last Tuesday was a Myanmar native and a 23 year-old graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), according to information released by law enforcement authorities.
The young former student was struck and killed by a truck near MIT. He was later taken to the Massachusetts General Hospital and pronounced dead upon arrival. The truck driver has not been charged and local Cambridge police are still investigating whether the accident resulted from criminal negligence.
The intersection where the accident happened, at the corner of Massachusetts Avenue and Vassar Street in Cambridge, is apparently a busy one, and 27 accidents have been recorded there over the past two years. Still, cyclists who frequently use the intersection said that it is not dangerous, and expressed surprise that such a horrific motor vehicle accident could happen.
