A South Boston, MA commercial building, that was slated to be converted into a supermarket, sustained over $100,000 in property damage after a two-alarm fire this past Tuesday morning.
Boston Fire Department officials say that the fire started in the building’s basement, and traveled quickly up the walls into the roof, completely engulfing the building in flames.
Boston Fire Department spokesman, Steve MacDonald, said that the fire appeared to have started in the basement, but there is no official word as to the fire’s place of origin as of yet.
MacDonald also said that no personal injuries were reported from the fire, despite the large number of workers present at the scene prior to the blaze.
